Women’s Labor History: a series of 6 bronze panels set near the Union Square Timeline, was commissioned by the Unite Labor Union, formerly the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. These intricate reliefs chronicle tragic events like the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, labor victories such as The Great Strike in 1909, also known as the Uprising of the 20,000, and depict as well the daily activities of modern workers. The panels work to educate the public about the largely unknown history of this industry, long an integral part of New York City.
