In recent years, I have developed a unique technique to create three-dimensional photographic reliefs based on my photographs. I began with my street photography and photographs of decaying and defaced advertisements throughout the city, highlighting the interplay of photographed wrinkles and texture with the “real” wrinkles and textures I added to the printed photographs. I then moved on to taking photographs of classical and neoclassical art, and using the same technique on the draped sculptures, and paintings. My interest in classical and neoclassical sculpture, particularly the way carved drapery transforms stone into the illusion of soft, flowing fabric has been lifelong. My practice now has the ideal subject with which to explore how images can become objects, and how objects can confound our understanding of reality.
